One of our great discoveries at Pooky was resin, and how fabulous it is for making table lamps. Here are some of the wonderful (and occasionally weird) lamp shapes and colours we’ve created with that marvellous material…
Resin has three tremendous qualities when it comes to making designer table lamps. First, it’s solid. Weighty. When you pick up a resin lamp it feels pleasingly chunky, and you can plonk it down on your table with a satisfying thud. Second, it’s malleable in the manufacturing process, meaning we can shape it how we like and our designers can let their imaginations run riot. The results range from the elegantly simple to the overtly flamboyant (as you will soon see). And third, there’s plenty of scope for vibrant colour tones - all the way from solid black to the kinds of translucent yellows and oranges that gleam gloriously under a lit bulb. Here’s our resin range…
Aurora – for something that’s pretty effective
The Aurora is the resin table lamp that will look great anywhere. Sideboard, dresser, bedside, you name it. We think it’s just so effective and unusual: four pretty balls of resin sitting atop one another. It comes in clear, yellow, orange, green and a distinguished deep blue. Aurora works wonderfully with a patterned, gathered cotton shade for a vintage-y sort of effect and at 32cm high it’s eye-catching without being excessively imposing.

Mistra – for a classic Art Deco statement

If you want something more imposing on your table, the Mistra is a striking statement lamp - a classic Art Deco beauty in clear acrylic. The base is a glorious 47cm high - pair it with a block colour shade for a very smart centrepiece.
Lucas – for something sweet
For something a little cheekier, the Lucas (42cm tall) comes in a clear resin or this striking green resin for something quite unique. We love it with a silk shade.
Longford – for a twist on the traditional column
If you want something sleek, classy and timeless, the Longford in green resin is perfect: the polished resin takes an ornate classical brass column and gives it a modern twist with the striking green resin colour.
Pirouette – for a resin twist
Pirouette in magenta resin - Unfortunately the Pirouette is no longer available, but please take a look at our extensive range of table lamps here.
If you like curvy lines and bold colours, the Pirouette could be the resin lamp for you. The twisted glass lamp is a 20th century design classic, and our polished resin version comes in a subtle aqua and a very striking magenta. Twirly!
And for something completely different – Tristan and Isolde
Tristan and Isolde table lamps in matt black resin - Unfortunately the Tristan and Isolde ranges are no longer available, but please take a look at our extensive range of table lamps here.
Finally, our boldest (and most marmite) designer table lamps to date: the Tristan and the Isolde. They come individually or can be bought as a pair, in which case they work marvellously as slightly bonkers bookends or - with square shades - on either side of a mantelpiece. For more unusual table lamps, feast your eyes on this lot.
