Emery Walker, a master engraver and close collaborator of William Morris, lived just a few hundred yards from Morris in Hammersmith, both enjoying views of the Thames. Among the wonderful designs created by Morris and found in Walker’s house is the enchanting 'Bower' pattern. Registered in 1877, 'Bower' evokes a floral wonderland, brimming with life and vitality. Its name perfectly captures the essence of a pleasant, shaded retreat under trees or climbing plants. We adore how this uplifting design, with its intricate foliage and flowers, has now been beautifully transformed into our lampshades, allowing Morris's timeless creations to live on in modern interiors.
