Roddy, Refreshed: A Glow-Up for a Pooky Icon

You’ll likely already be well-acquainted with our Roddy. He’s the handsome wall light with that unmistakable Art Deco swagger who has been gracing your bathrooms, hallways, and kitchens for six glorious years now. An instant icon from the get-go, Roddy soared into our coveted best-sellers list the moment he launched, with every subsequent sibling in the collection following suit.

To celebrate Roddy’s sixth birthday, we’re throwing a spotlight on a selection of new and improved wall lights. Here is the Roddy you know and love, but with a 2026 spring in his step.

A brand new shape

First up, meet the Rectangular Roddy. It’s a sleek, elongated silhouette that retains all of the collection’s signature glass-rod sparkle but in a more architectural form. Whether you opt for the warmth of classic brass or the crispness of contemporary nickel, it’s a versatile piece that feels just as at home in a traditional terrace as it does in a minimalist masterpiece.

A dreamy new finish

If you’re after a softer, more ethereal ambiance, we’ve introduced frosted glass rods. This finish offers a gentle, diffused glow and is now available on our most-loved brass designs - Baby Roddy, Long Roddy, and Rodtastic - as well as the new rectangular arrival. It’s the ultimate secret weapon for crafting that "spa-day-every-day" calm in your bathroom (and beyond).

The devil in the details

We’ve kept a very beady eye on the small things. You might notice the metalwork itself has been rejuvenated; we’ve replaced sheet brass with heavy cast brass for a more substantial, premium feel. Furthermore, the glass rods now sit completely flush together, eliminating gaps and ensuring the light casts a perfectly consistent, flicker-free glow across your walls.

Effortless upkeep

They say you shouldn't mess with a masterpiece, but we couldn't resist adding a clever new mechanism. These designs may look familiar, but they now feature a "pull-apart" function. Simply slide the glass away from the brass backplate for cleaning or maintenance. No more fiddly unscrewing of individual rods - just more time to admire the view.

All these seemingly simple updates are key to offering not only a refined look but a significantly higher quality for our Pooksters.

Our Chief Creative Officer, Jo, concludes: “It’s not just about new finishes; it’s about quality, performance, and the customer experience. All the new designs, and a majority of the existing family, are IP-rated, making them perfect for bathrooms and kitchens, yet their sparkle also transforms hallways, dining rooms, and living spaces. Roddy remains the same iconic style we fell in love with, now elevated in every detail to shine even brighter in any home.”

Roddy’s design journey

'

The Original Roddy

Launched in 2020, this lovely light wasn’t actually designed specifically for the splash zone, but our customers had much better ideas. Before long, photos came pouring in of pairs of Roddies flanking vanity mirrors (outside the 60cm zone, naturally). It was a stroke of customer genius that changed the trajectory of the whole family.

Baby Roddy

Dainty, adorable, and perhaps a touch more discerning than its namesake. Our ‘Baby’ may be compact, but it certainly doesn't hold back on the glamour. With its glorious stepped brass ‘hat’ and its status as the first IP-rated member of the clan, it’s the quintessential bathroom wall light.

'

Long Roddy

Contemporary, yet Art Deco as heck. Standing ten centimetres taller than the original, Long Roddy boasts two IP-rated bulbs for that extra boost of illumination. It’s brilliant for the morning "get-ready" routine, but never too piercing for a gentle evening wind-down in the tub.

Rodtastic

Extra long, extra fun, and - dare we say - fantastic. At almost twice the height of the original, the IP-rated Rodtastic takes the drama to another level. While it looks magnificent mounted vertically, it’s equally fabulous when placed horizontally above a mirror for a modern "Hollywood" feel.

Round (and Square) Roddy

Feeling flush? A little more modest than its towering siblings, the Round Roddy keeps things sleek, snug, and close to the wall. The light twinkles beautifully through the rods and diffuses softly through a frosted baffle, making it the ideal choice for lower ceilings and calm, collected spaces everywhere.

Whether you’re a long-time devotee or a brand-new admirer, it’s time to give the new-and-improved Roddy a warm welcome home; after all, every icon deserves a little polish now and then.
