Collaborative Craft Projects - Meet the Makers

We are delighted to have teamed up with the Collaborative Craft Projects (CCP) to provide a selection of beautifully organic hand-made, natural shades.

The team at CCP works closely with Artisan Communities throughout Zimbabwe and regionally to design, develop, and make handmade homeware that is beautiful and functional.

The collection brings elements of the natural world into interiors, through its organic shape and material. Each design takes inspiration from beautifully handcrafted baskets created by the women involved with CCP and is transformed into a striking shade design.

The natural weave of the shades transmits light wonderfully throughout a room when on and when not in use, each is a piece of art in its own right. Jo, Pooky's Chief Creative Officer, explains a bit more about the collaboration:

“We were introduced to Jane at Collaborative Craft Projects and were instantly taken by her passion and commitment to build a legacy for the female artisans she works with whilst preserving the traditional skills and natural heritage of Zimbabwean culture and craft.

Jane and the amazing women she works with had already developed a new range of Wonky Wave baskets and we fell in love and asked if they would develop them as a pendant shade exclusively for Pooky. They are available in a range of sizes and are a real show-stopper.

We chose to use pared-back, simple shapes as we wanted to create something that could fit successfully and look amazing in even the most clean and modern of interiors as perfectly as in more traditional, country aesthetics."
